Discount Real Estate Brokers and Discount Real Estate Agents are real estate licensees who are agreeable to discounting their listing commission to something lower than the rate commonly offered by real estate brokers within a geographic area.

Brokers who manage their own business and/or supervise other agents are often called Managing Brokers, Principal Brokers, Designated Brokers, Qualifying Brokers, or Brokers-In-Charge – depending on the state and their role within their organization.
Associate Brokers or Broker Associates are brokers who are qualified, through education and experience, to manage their own brokerage and supervise other agents. However, they instead choose to operate under another real estate broker.
A Real Estate Agent or Salesperson is a licensee at a lower level of classification in real estate. The Agent has typically achieved a lower level of real estate education and must be supervised by a Broker.
The classification process can become a little confusing depending on the state. For instance, in some states, real estate Agents, or Salespersons, are called Brokers.
